Summary:

"When a hungry alligator moves to their town, the residents want him out . . . until they get to know him (and learn what he's actually hungry for!). A timely tale about empathy, acceptance and a community's response to injustice"-- Provided by publisher.

This book has charming ink and watercolor illustrations in earth tones. The story has cute, cheeky descriptions. The recurring line beseeching the alligator not to eat anyone or anything was a thread that tied the conflict from the beginning. There is no discernible rhyming in the book. The characters in the illustrations are diverse in appearance and ability, which is very nice touch. Some of the pages are busy, while others are calm and have simple illustrations. the overall balance of story and illustrations is very nice.
